4Life is an exciting, community-based project that encourages people to lead active and healthy lives. It was launched in January 2007, exactly 2,012 days before the start of the London 2012 Olympics.

It has proved to be a huge success and following the pilot scheme in the All Saints area of Chatham it has expanded to Twydall and Strood areas with several hundred members spread across Medway. Members have been able to take part in a range of activities including:

4 Life is now being expanded to include new projects focusing on the Brompton and Wayfield areas.

Helping adults and children to achieve a healthy weight and to be more active are key priorities in Medway. Medway’s Senior Public Health Manager, Sally-Ann Ironmonger, is keen for people to realise how making small lifestyle changes can bring significant health benefits.

She said: “Medway has a higher obesity level than the national average and we have been working on a number of projects aimed at encouraging families to enjoy a more balanced, healthier diet allied to increased leisure activity.”

4Life is free to join and offers fun days, information on events and services across Medway, free health assessments and courses that encourage family learning. It is open to all Medway residents and members are able to attend events and activities in any area of Medway.
