To continue to represent Great Britain in the future and to compete at London 2012.
Stuart Hitchcock's interest in athletics started with the Medway Messenger Mini Youth Games. He is now one of the country's leading long and triple jumpers in his age group.
Having got a taste for athletics at primary school, he went on to enter local district competitions at secondary school and was then invited to join MMAC.
He began training for the long jump in 2002 and won the very first competition he entered. He has not looked back since, going on to win medals in long and triple jump at club, school, county, regional and national levels.

Stuart has also won 18 county titles indoors and out and five south-east titles to date. In 2006, he won the silver medal at the AAA of England Championships and has so far been to four English Schools competitions, winning two team gold medals with Kent along the way. Stuart received his international call-up in 2007, when he was selected to represent Great Britain at the Jumps International event against Holland. He competed in the long jump and helped Team GB to a victory. He then went on to represent Great Britain in the long jump at the European Youth Olympics in Serbia. |
Having moved up an age category in 2007, Stuart still managed eighth place at the England under-20 Championships before his season became dogged by illness and injury.
Stuart is the MMAC record holder for many field events and a medal holder for relays and multi-event competitions at county level. He hopes to continue to develop as an athlete and go on to represent Great Britain again in the future.
