Callum Fowler is the first athlete from a winter sport to be signed up to the Medway Elite Athlete Support Programme.

Callum, who lives in Rainham and goes to Rainham Mark School, plays for the Chelmsford Warriors junior and men’s teams.

Callum has been a member of the England ice Hockey set-up since the age of 11.

At the age of 15 he was a member of the England under-16 side that won the Verwijst international tournament in Tilburg, Holland, the first time that England had won at this level for 22 years.

Callum was then selected for the Great Britain under-18-squad to compete in the International Ice Hockey Federation World Championships in Estonia in March 2008.

At 16, Callum was the youngest member of the squad and was competing in an age group higher than he should be.

Great Britain progressed to the division B final after winning all of their group games but narrowly lost to Hungary.
