Jordan Dennis is Medway’s boxing star. He started boxing at the age of 12 years, when he attended Brompton Amatuer Boxing Club with his older brother. Within six weeks, Jordan was facing his first opponent - a fight which he won in 25 seconds.
Just 18 months on from his first fight, in May 2005, Jordan qualified for the Golden Gloves, the national championship event for under-16 boxers. Jordan won the event and was crowned national champion.
Later that year, Jordan captained England against Ireland. In 2006 Jordan again qualified for the Golden Gloves championship, this time reaching the quarter finals.
In 2007, Jordan turned 16 and stepped up to the Junior ABA Championships. Once again he reached the final and was crowned national champion for the second time.
He has since gone on to captain England to victory in a series of international matches against the other nations from the British Isles.
Jordan made the quarter finals of the 2008 Junior ABA Championships after recently recovering from a broken foot. He has set his sights on winning the next NABC Championships and regaining the Junior ABA title in 2009.
Jordan recently completed his GCSEs and is now embarking on a college course at Mid-Kent College. He would like to thank his brother and his coach, Billy Beck of Brompton Amateur Boxing Club, for all that he has achieved so far.
