Project 2016
Project 2016's aim is to help and support Medway's most promising 12-15 year-olds. It will assist them in their pursuit of sporting glory as they progress up the rankings on their way to elite athlete level. |
Each Project 2016 athlete will qualify for:
financial assistance to help with equipment and competition costs;
advice from the UK's top athletes and sports scientists at the University of Kent at Medway;
free off-peak access to Medway's sports facilities.
The programme is designed to give Medway's young athletes a taste of athlete support from a young age with the aim of ensuring they qualify for the full Elite Athlete Support Programme when they reach the age of 16 years. It will ensure Medway's most promising sports performers are given the chance to reach their full potential. |
Project 2016 is open to Medway's sportsmen and women aged 12-15 years who represent the county or the south-east or compete in national competitions within their discipline.
It is open to athletes who compete in sports recognised by Sport England. This does not include non-active sports more commonly known as pastimes. A list of applicable sports is available from Sport England (www.sportengland.org).
