How to write a covering letter
Your covering letter shouldn’t be longer than one side of A4. Once you’ve had a few jobs you could expand to two sides. Like your CV, your covering letter needs to follow a sequence. Here’s an example:
What job you are applying for and any job reference
What you are doing at the moment and why you want to change – your current school/college/job and your career aims
What makes you right for this job – the skills and experience you have which match
Answer any questions that may have been included in the advert
Top tips:
Use a font and size that is easy to read (using the same font and size as your CV is a good idea)
Don’t forget to sign your letter!
