Where do you start when it comes to drugs? There are so many different types of drugs out there, so many different laws and so many different side effects, that it’s hard to keep it all straight.

Drug education aims to make sure that young people can make informed choices about their health throughout their lives. The term drugs includes illegal substances such as heroin or cannabis, as well as alcohol and tobacco.

Medway Council works with a number of organisations to deliver treatment and prevention packages to young people who are involved with drugs. These organisations include:

  • the local Health Promotion Team, which is part of the National Health Service;

  • KCA (formerly known as the Kent Council on Addiction);

  • the Drug Action Team;

  • the police.

Medway Council is a partner in the Drug Intervention and Support Programme, which seeks to offer personal help and support to young people who have become involved with drugs.

Have a look round this section for information and advice on drugs and a list of useful contacts.
