131- Changes to route due Southern Gas Network works in Berengrave Lane - 2 October- 10 December

With effect from 2 October until 10 December Nu-Venture service 131 will NOT be serving the bus stops in Berengrave Lane, and Childscoft Road.

This is due to Southern Gas Network roadworks taking place in Berengrave Lane which will be closed in phases while a main gas main is being replaced.

Nu-Venture Service 131 will be diverted via Lower Rainham Road, and Station Road while this works are going on, and unfortunately there are no other suitable diversion routes available.

Please proceed to bus stops in Lower Rainham Road (Army and Navy stop) or to Station Road (Henry Street)

Medway Council and Nu-Venture apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause, but these urgent gas main works are totally beyond our control.

New look crossing points in Chatham Waterfront Bus Station

The previous road markings on the crossing points didn't conform to the standards and features, such asChatham Bus Station beacons, generally associated with zebra crossings. There was confusion as to what type of crossing they were and what was expected of drivers and pedestrians using them.

By removing the markings but retaining the existing crossing points, this confusion has been removed. The new block paving has been laid in with two different colours and in a specific pattern to increase conspicuousness.

In addition to the above, the approach visibility to some of the crossings has been improved via an extension of the platform into the highway and a lowering of the Paddock wall by the crossing point entrance.

Within the bus station all drivers must adhere to a Code of Conduct that, amongst other things, limits speeds and clearly states that the crossing points must be respected at all times.

New 183 service to operate between Twydall, Hazlemere Drive, Grange Road, Gillingham Green to Asda.

The service will run from Twydall via Goudhurst Road, Eastcourt Lane, Beechings Way, A289, Lower Rainham Road (Hastings Arms), Plantation Road, Hazlemere Estate, Grange Road, Gillingham Green, Church Street, A289 to Asda. Service 185- New section of route from September 25.

From September 25 the commercial daytime journeys on the 185 service (Chatham - Davis Estate) from 9am until 3pm will now divert via Wallace Road and Wilson Avenue between Maidstone Road and Pattens Lane. This is a result of local feedback received by Nu-Venture from local residents.

The Wallace Road and Wilson Avenue section will operate as a "Hail and Ride"  arrangement  which will mean that passengers can wait at any section of the route in those roads and hail the bus.

All other 185 journeys at early mornings, and evenings, and Saturdays will operate via Maidstone Road and Pattens Lane .

The new 185 timetable and map can be download here.
