Old School Workforce Census

What is the School Workforce Census?

The School Workforce Census is a statutory collection of individual data on teachers and support staff who work within the local authority, school and academies. The first return was in November 2010, and will take place annually around the first Thursday of November.

How will the Department of Education use the information?

The Department for Education (DfE) uses information collected in the School Workforce Census for research and statistical purposes, to evaluate and develop education policy.

How will Medway Council use the information?

Medway Council will use information about its school workforce for research and statistical purposes, and to evaluate and develop education policy and strategies. The statistics are used in such a way that individual staff cannot be identified from them. The Local Authority may also use it to support and monitor schools regarding sickness and recruitment of staff.
