Information for schools

The museum is a wonderful resource for supporting work in school. Around 15,000 children between the ages of four and 16 years visit every year in booked groups. Over 4,000 of these enjoy direct object-led teaching on a particular theme chosen by the class teacher. Subjects covered include history, literature, geography and science.
Teachers can contact the museum to:
  • book a self-guided visit;
  • receive a series of fun trails or quizzes based on the museum's collections;
  • book a taught session from the term programme;
  • discuss other requirements with the educational officer.
All education activities held at the museum are free. An outreach service, which takes objects into Medway schools and offers themed teaching in the classroom, is also available for a small charge.
