Cruises on the River
Relive the days of steam and relax on the River Medway aboard Britain's last surviving coal-fired paddle steamer, Kingswear Castle. Regular afternoon and full-day sightseeing cruises and evening cruises operate during the summer.
From Easter until early autumn, Kent's classic pilot vessel X-Pilot will operate regular weekend and private hire charters from Rochester Pier.
Guided walking tours and ghost walks
Between Easter and the end of September, the City of Rochester Society offers free regular walking tours around the historic city of Rochester. Costumed guided walking tours with a Dickensian character are available for pre-booked groups only. Those with an interest in the spirit world can take a ghost walk on the first Wednesday evening of each month and discover the tragedies that have befallen some of Rochester's historic residents.
In pursuit of nature
Whether you are looking for relaxation, recreation or just wish to get closer to nature, there's a full programme of special events, walks and talks taking place at Medway's country parks.
Medway's theatres
A fantastic line-up awaits residents and visitors at the Central and Brook Theatres in Chatham.
Art Exhibitions at Eastgate House
Eastgate House, a Grade 1 listed building, is open at weekends during the summer for a series of free art exhibitions. For more information call the Visitor Information Centre.
Markets
If you are looking for a chance to buy fresh, quality local produce at a competitive price, visit the Rochester farmers' market held on the third Sunday of each month on Corporation Street car park in historic Rochester. For the bargain hunters, Medway has a selection of general markets in Gillingham, Rochester and Strood town centres.
