Buses
PThe majority of bus services in Medway are provided by Arriva
Medway Towns, although companies such
as ASD
Transport, Chalkwell, Kent Top Travel, Nu-Venture and others also
provide services in this area.
The operators provide many of the daytime routes without a
subsidy and therefore the operator decides the route, timetable and
fares. Medway Council does, however, support a number of bus
services financially that would not be provided otherwise and is
keen to encourage greater use of the bus network overall.
There is an increasing number of super low-floor buses in
service, giving easy access for users. However, where people have
difficulty in using the main bus network, the Medway Mobility Service
offers a link to the main shopping centres.
Changes to Arriva services from 15 January 2012
Please note that there are a number of changes to Arriva bus

Changes to 135/155 service
Due to the closure of Aylesford High Street from Sunday,
29 January for eight weeks, services 155/135
will be revised and rerouted.
Journeys between Aylesford and Eccles will run
via Rochester Road, Pilgrims Way and Bull Lane turning outside the
Old Walnut Tree.
To replace the stops in the High Street
temporary stops will be located in Rochester Road.
To allow for this diversion four extra
minutes has been added to each journey.
Please download a temporary 155 timetable (pdf
36KB) and a 135 Sunday timetable. (pdf

Withdrawal of Park and Ride service
Following a decision taken by Medway Council the Horsted Park
& Ride service will cease from 31 March 2012.
Medway Council regrets that this
has been necessary but this has been as a result of budgetary
pressures and low levels of usage.
Alternative services running from
Maidstone Road, Chatham is the Arriva 101 which runs every 15
minutes Monday to Saturday, and hourly on Sundays, to Chatham
Waterfront Bus Station whereby connecting buses such as the
140/141 can
take passengers to Rochester.

Medway bus pass
The bus pass allows
Medway residents aged 60 years* or more and people with
disabilities to travel by bus for free, except at morning peak
times. This is now a national scheme, so pass-holders can travel
for free across all of England from 9.30am (9am in Medway) to 11pm,
Monday to Friday and all day at weekends and on bank holidays.
* Please note the age eligibility for bus passes is
changing. Find out who qualifies for a bus pass.
Medway Youth Pass
For more details on Medway Council's Medway Youth Pass which can
be used up to the end of the academic year following their 18th
birthday to travel on any local bus serivice at any time, please
visit the Medway Youth
Pass page.
Waiting restrictions
To aid the flow of traffic, there are "no parking" and "no
waiting" restrictions at all bus stops. Parking in bus stops
impedes the passage of buses and can make it hazardous for users
getting on and off the bus, especially for those with mobility
difficulties, pushchairs and buggies. Please do not park or wait in
bus stops.
