Bus passes
The Medway bus pass allows people aged 60 and older or people
with specified disabilities free off-peak bus travel. Please note,
the age
eligibility for bus passes is changing.
Holders of the pass may travel off-peak for:
- any trip in the Medway Council area;
- journeys from Medway into Kent (for example, Chatham to
Maidstone);
- journeys throughout England (including Transport for London
(TfL) supported buses in London).
Off-peak generally means after 9.30am and before 11pm, Monday to
Friday, or at any time that buses are running on Saturdays, Sundays
or bank holidays. However, Medway residents may travel from
9am for journeys which start in the Medway
Council area.
In London, bus pass holders can use TfL supported bus services
24 hours a day. The pass is not
valid for London Underground, trams, or river services in
London.
If you do not hold a bus pass
If you qualify for the Medway bus pass but do not have an
existing permit, please complete an application form and bring it
to an issuing office together with proof of age or disability, your
address and a photograph of yourself.
The photograph should:
- be a colour photo
- be no more than 6 months old;
- be passport-sized;
- show the face looking straight ahead at the camera but not
completely filling the picture;
- not have patterns or other images in the background - a plain,
pale background is best;
- be neither too dark nor too light;
- show the applicant's name clearly on the back.
The photograph will be stored electronically, which means that
it can be used again and there will be no need for another
photograph to be supplied each year.
