Volunteering with the Villager

As a community transport scheme, the Villager relies on the support of volunteers.

For the Villager to be able to continue to be able to improve rural residents' access to services, both within and outside Medway, it needs the support and involvement of the local community.

There are several ways you can get involved.

Become a driver

  • Most of the services are provided by volunteer drivers who give up their own time to drive the minibuses. This includes regular excursions and services provided for local groups.
  • Volunteer drivers are provided with free training and support.
  • Out-of-pocket expenses incurred while driving are paid.
  • If you have held your licence since before 1997, you can drive a Villager minibus without any further qualifications.

Promote the scheme

  • The Villager is always keen to find new ways to promote its services and would be pleased to receive any help.
  • If you are a member of a local group that might want to hire a vehicle or if you know someone who might enjoy the regular excursions, please contact The Villager.
