Maintenance
Medway Council is developing prioritised maintenance programmes
to improve:
- the condition of the roads
- pavements
- street facilities and equipment
- road safety
- facilities to vulnerable road users.
These programmes fall into the following areas:
- road and pavement surfacing;
- street lighting schemes;
- traffic signal schemes;
- Rights of Way enhancement;
- strengthening of highway structures;
- accident reduction schemes;
- wheelchair and pram crossing locations.
The council welcomes additional suggestions, which can be made
using the contact details below, but they can only be included on a
programme if they are of a higher priority than work that is
already in a programme.
Spillages
If you see an oil spillage along the road, this is an urgent
matter and needs to be reported as soon as possible. Please phone
the number below and give an accurate description of the location
or fill out an online
form.
Roads
Each year the Planned Maintenance
Team compiles a list of roads to be considered for resurfacing
work. These are inspected and prioritised according to their
condition and the possible treatments available. If you request a
road to be resurfaced, it will be added to the list and if
successful, work will be carried out in the following financial
year.
Please phone the number below or fill out an online form if you notice:
- poor quality road or footway surface;
- obstructions on the road, such as a plank of wood;
- a rocking manhole cover that make a noise when traffic runs
over it
- a worn out broken white line.
Road marking requests
The council receives many requests for yellow lines and each
site is assessed, with priority being given to schemes with a
history of injury related accidents. Your request will be retained
on file and included within a future traffic regulation order for
safety schemes.
If you would like request road markings, fill out an online form or phone the number
below.
