Dangerous road junctions

Each year Medway Council implements local safety schemes aimed at reducing crashes in places where a number of accidents have occurred. The council tries to establish patterns in crashes to help resolve the problem.

Engineering measures used to reduce the number of accidents include:

  • improving crossings;
  • better signing and road markings;
  • resurfacing the road;
  • traffic calming.

If you would like to make an enquiry about a dangerous road junction, please complete the online form.

All local safety schemes go through a very strict safety audit. This is done so that highway and safety measures are looked at from the viewpoints of all road users. The audit looks at:

  • visibility;
  • lighting;
  • road surface;
  • speed;
  • maintenance;
  • landscaping;
  • the safety of pedestrians and cyclists;
  • improving access for people with disabilities.

The schemes are then prioritised and dealt with as funding allows.
