Road crash (and casualty) data collection
Medway Council continually monitors personal injury road traffic
crash information supplied by Kent Police. The crash data is
checked and recorded onto a database for analysis to help identify
patterns and common causation factors leading up to the
incident.
Personal injury collisions are categorised by severity:
- Fatal - a crash resulting in a death;
- Serious - detention in hospital, includes
paralysis, fractures and severe lacerations;
- Slight - includes whiplash, sprains and minor
lacerations.
The table of data and graphs below, summarise the Road Traffic
Crash statistics in Medway from 1994 to 2010 and
includes killed or seriously injured (KSI), slight and total
casualties:

As you can see from the above, the number of road casualties
occurring on Medway's roads have been reduced over the last 10
years. Medway Council continues to work to reduce casualties
further.
