Many older people live alone and may not have a visitor every day.
Some feel lonely from time to time, worry that no one will notice if they take ill, or are not up and about in the mornings, and do not want their family to worry about them.
The Good Day Calls service is a daily telephone call, available 365 days-a-year, to have a chat and check on the welfare of an older person, and provide support if necessary.
It also brings reassurance to family members that someone is speaking to their relative every day and can escalate for assistance if needed.
This is especially important if they themselves live away, or have their own significant work commitments.
Each call lasts up to 5 minutes, and will be made at the same time on each chosen day, ensuring the older person can feel reassured by the routine.
