Volunteers have always been at the heart of Carers UK.
During 2015 we launched a volunteering programme with a call to members and supporters to 'Be one of the 500'.
With investment from the Centre for Social Action Innovation Fund, a partnership between Nesta and the Cabinet Office, we are aiming to recruit 500 volunteers this year who can help make life better for carers.
Over our 50-year history Carers UK has always been about people using their caring experience to help other carers.
Even with so little time on their hands, many of our members help other carers – from simple acts of kindness such as signposting a carer to local help to providing a voice for carers by campaigning for and influencing services.
How to get involved
You can get involved by:
- becoming a Carer Ambassador
- volunteering on the Adviceline
- offering your technical expertise
- helping with an awareness campaign
- writing to your MP
- making a video
- responding to a forum post
- sharing your story
- supporting our media work
You can even get your employer involved as we launch a drive to get our corporate friends donating their professional hours and pledging 50 volunteers for our 50th.
Location is not an issue as we've got home-based volunteer opportunities as well as those which involve getting out and about.
Whether you can spare an hour a week, a single day or something more, every contribution makes a difference.
