Dementia Day Services

Age UK Medway operates two centres offering specialist dementia day centre service ensuring respect, dignity and choice and maximizing opportunities for older people living with dementia.

The Dementia Suite, based in The Mackenney Centre Gillingham, covers Gillingham, Twydall, Rainham, Parkwood and Wigmore. The Capstone Centre, based in Hopewell Drive Chatham, covers the remainder of Medway.

The specialist dementia day centres are delivered in consultation with service users and their carers in a flexible and responsive way.

We offer practical help and support in a professional caring manner ensuring a ‘person centred approach’.

The day centres offer regular respite from caring.

Transport can be arranged and the day includes a 2 course meal, drinks and snacks. We have a running programme of activities which are specially designed for people with dementia.

Our ethos is to understand the person with dementia, and allow them to be themselves in a safe, non-medical and stimulating environment.

• promote confidence
• maintain independence
• reduce isolation
