Don your best Victorian dress for our Dickens parades and costume events at Dickens Festival 2018.
Saturday 2 June and Sunday 3 June at 2.30pm at La Providence
If you have arrived in true Dickensian style, then come and parade through our catwalk and show off your attire. The winner will receive an award by the man himself, Gerald Dickens!
Join us for the spectacular parades of Dickensian characters and Victorian costumes. Led by the Mayor of Medway. The parade will form at the Star Hill end of the High Street and move along to its junction with Corporation Street, before making its way into Rochester Castle Gardens.
The parades will be held on Saturday 2 June and Sunday 3 June 2018. The parades include:
- the Grand Parade at 12noon
- the Afternoon Parade at 4.45pm
- the Music Hall Finale at 5pm
Kent Costume Trust
Saturday 2 June and Sunday 3 June at Princes Hall, Corn Exchange
The Kent Costume Trust has a display of Costumes and crafts from Dickensian times with an opportunity for children to dress up in reproduction clothes and ideas to make your own reproduction dress.
The talks on Saturday will be ' The Dear Departed - sentimental and mourning jewellery and on Sunday the talks will be ' A Tale of Two Knitters - changes then and now.
