Flats that previously received garden waste collections
In 2025 a small number of flats in Medway were identified as receiving an enhanced service.
This enhanced service means you previously received brown bin garden waste collections, even though flats were not included in your original waste collection contract.
The enhanced service for garden waste will end on 31 March 2026 unless you pay for a valid garden waste subscription.
Letters were sent in February and March 2026 to residents and or managing agents explaining this.

Gardening contractors
If gardening or grounds maintenance at your building is carried out by a contractor, they must remove any waste they produce.
Council bins must not be used for contractor waste.
Food waste collections
From 1 April 2026, flats receive a dedicated food waste only collection service.
Garden waste must not be placed in food waste bins.
