About Section 106
Section 106 (S106) is a legal agreement under the Town and Country Planning Act 1990.
This means we can ask for financial contributions from developers to help improve community facilities and services.
It also means:
- developers usually have to make a S106 payment for a planning application to be considered
- S106 contributions can help with the cost of development and benefit communities.
We ensure that S106 funding helps deliver sustainable development. Funds are used to improve community services such as:
- education and transport
- parks and leisure centres
- community buildings.
Funding is collected when developments are in progress. This allows us to ease the impacts of the development.
