Local transport plan

The current Medway local transport plan came in effect on 1 April 2011. This runs until the end of 2026.

We’re developing a new local transport plan to guide how we deliver sustainable transport schemes across Medway. This strategy will shape how people, goods, and services move around Medway to make travel:

  • safer
  • more efficient
  • better for the environment
  • better for everyone’s wellbeing.

To support this work, we’ve commissioned SYSTRA to work with us to create an inclusive plan that reflects the needs and aspirations of Medway.

We asked to hear from you

We conducted a survey to understand your experiences, priorities, and ideas around transport and travel in Medway.

Your views are important. Whether you live, work, travel, or study in Medway, this was your opportunity to help influence the future of transport in your area.

The survey closed at 11.59pm on Sunday 12 October 2025.

To read about our findings, view our report on the baseline consultation.

Why your feedback matters

Your feedback will directly inform the development of our local transport plan. This was the first of 2 planned consultations.

In 2026, we’ll ask for your feedback on our draft proposals.

Accessibility, protected characteristics, and young voices

We recognise that young people and groups with protected characteristics are also significantly impacted by changes to transport.

We’ll be working directly with these groups to make sure that everyone has an opportunity to take part and ensure safe, accessible, and sustainable travel for the whole community.

If you took part in the survey, the information you give will be used by SYSTRA and us to support the early development of our local transport plan.

We will not be able to identify individuals, organisations, or specific locations from the data collected.

The research is being conducted in accordance with the Market Research Society Code of Conduct and the UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). For full details on how your data will be handled, stored, and used, please refer to our Privacy Policy.

You have the right to understand how your personal data is used, and to access any information we may hold about you.
