Shared Lives Carers invite adults with physical or learning disabilities to live with them in a family environment for a period of time. Half of shared lives placements go on to live independently for the first time in their lives.
When you become a shared life carer you can expect:
- fully certified training and a 24 hour support line
- financial payment based on the type of care you give
- to be expertly matched with someone who fits closely to your personality and skills
How to become a Shared Lives Carer
Before you apply check with the Department for Work and Pensions to see if becoming a carer will affect any of your benefits.
We can’t accept applications from you if you're on incapacity benefit or if you manage a household with temporary residents such as a guest house or student accommodation.
To apply please contact us on 01634 337 100 and answer a few questions about yourself. We’ll then visit you and have an in-depth conversation and do a full assessment.
