Advice for adopted adults
If you are over 18, live in Medway and were adopted we can offer you support and advice. This includes:
- counselling and advice on adoption issues
- counselling for those looking to find out about their origins and access their birth records
- support and advice for adopted adults who want to, or have made contact with their birth family
- support and advice to adopted people wishing to register a veto on being contacted by members of their birth family

Records of adoptions
There are records of adoption for people who have been adopted in England and Wales since 1 January 1927. A full standard certificate gives the date of birth (if known), adoptive name and details of the adoptive parents. A short certificate only shows the name and date of birth and does not refer to adoption.
