Medway City Status Bid 2022

In 2021 a competition to award city status was announced as part of the celebrations for Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in summer 2022. 

Medway announced its intention to bid as we believe Medway is a city in all but name and the benefits it would bring to Medway, our towns, villages and communities, would be significant. 

At the end of 2021 we put in our submission. We hope you find it interesting and a positive case for Medway.

The competition entry requirements set out the information we had to provide as part of our submission.

We were given the opportunity to showcase many of Medway’s outstanding landmarks which are featured in the photographs section as well as maps showing our key destination points of interest and transport links.

The document was written and designed entirely using our in-house teams. The only cost incurred has been the printing of a small number of copies of the document.

The final decision will be taken during spring 2022 and announced shortly afterwards as part of The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
