Code of conduct
As a member or a casual user of our sports centres, you're agreeing to our code of conduct.
If you break the following code, your membership and usage rights may be removed and you will be asked to leave the premises.
- Treat all facility users and staff members with courtesy and respect.
- Offensive language, discriminatory behaviour, physical assault or any form of harassment will not be tolerated.
- Wear appropriate workout clothing and footwear. Shirts must be always worn, and footwear should be suitable for the activity being performed. For example, closed toe shoes such as trainers in the gym area. Shoes should not be worn on poolside.
- Maintain good personal hygiene by wearing clean workout clothes and using deodorant. Be mindful of others in shared spaces.
- Use equipment properly and for its intended purpose. Return equipment to its designated places after use. If you are unsure of how to use equipment, ask a staff member for assistance.
- Always be mindful of others waiting for equipment and or space.
- Wipe down equipment after use with the provided sanitising spray.
- Keep noise levels to an appropriate level, including the volume of music, conversations or phone calls.
- Harassment, bullying or discriminatory behaviour based on race, gender reassignment, disability, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, sex, sexual orientation, religion, age or any other characteristic will not be tolerated.
- Do not consume food in workout or pool areas.
- Smoking and vaping are prohibited in all areas.
- Limit the use of mobile phones to appropriate places and be mindful of others when taking calls, filming or using devices. Filming, photography and video calls are prohibited in changing areas and poolside.
- You must not bring a personal trainer or coach into the facility.
- Your membership privileges are solely for your use. You must not share it with anyone else.
- Appropriate payment must be made before entering the centre and taking part in any activity.
- Respect the instructions of staff and management. If you have any questions or concerns, please address them respectfully with a staff member.
- Respect the centre’s property and that of others. Theft, vandalism or intentional damage will not be tolerated.
- Medway Sport reserves the right for its employees to review footage as required. For example, in the event of a member complaint, issue or dispute we may refer to the CCTV recording to help us in any investigation.
Failure to follow the code of conduct
Stage 1: warning
A member of staff will speak with you and explain how the code of conduct has not been met.
Stage 2: short-term ban
If there's no improvement after a warning, you will receive a short-term ban. This is usually a few weeks and is decided by the site manager.
Stage 3: lifetime ban
If you continue to break the code of conduct, you’ll be banned from our sports centres.

If you’re a junior member and have broken the code of conduct, a note will be made on your Scuba account.
If you’re a casual member and have broken the code of conduct, a member of staff will fill out an incident form. This includes taking a physical description.
All users have the right to express concerns or report issues. You can do this by emailing membership.support@medwaysport.gov.uk.
