Arts projects and workshops

Medway Council supports and partners an exciting range of cultural projects for people of all ages, across Medway. These enable artists and creative organisations to offer great activities and events which the community can enjoy.

Medway COVID Chronicles project

We're encouraging children across Medway to write poems, stories, create drawings and paintings, videos or even music sharing their experiences during this most unusual time.

The children’s creations will be used in a project which will capture life in lockdown and create COVID-19 memories for Medway and will also be stored for future generations by our Medway Archives Centre.

Medway Print Festival 2020 - online

The 5th Medway Print Festival (MPF) was poised to bring you 47 events in 15 Medway venues this June. Sadly some face to face activities cannot take place this year.

Thanks to fantastic support from Medway Council Arts Development, the team have developed an exciting online festival #mpf20lockdown. They will be bringing you a host of online print treats from Medway and beyond across social media and our new website on 6 to the 21 June 2020.

Talented Medway artists and the MPF team are busy creating video demos, live how to's, features and conversations about all things print.

There’s something for everyone including:

  • printing with kitchen cupboard items
  • family activities
  • discussions with artists
  • features on makers
  • a guide to a host of print techniques

Look at forthcoming and past print shows including this years much awaited Dickens 150 Print Open Call exhibition, still due to take place when Rochester Art Gallery reopens.

We are delighted to have so many of our regular contributing artists and venues on board and would like to thank them for helping us make this happen.

We are inviting the public, families and children as well as more amateur and more experienced printmakers to join in the event and create their own prints. You can then tag them on social media during the festival using #mpf20lockdown.

Whether to you make potato prints or lithographs we'd love you to share your prints with us.

Watch this space, follow us on Instagram or Facebook or visit our website for more details of what to expect.

You can email for any enquiries.
