Be Yourself

Be Yourself is a free employability programme for young people who are not in education, employment or training (NEET). You must be between the ages of 16 to 21 (up to 25 years with additional needs).

This programme helps young people find employment or return to education or training. It offers a wide range of services and encourages young people to sign up to as many of these courses as they like.

There are several programmes that all offer different employment support. The programmes are:

Employability programme

The employability programme is a 6-week programme. The sessions are 2 hours long and are held at the WREC Room. You can sign up to as many of the courses as you like. Course subjects include:

  • preparing for work
  • money management
  • career planning
  • digital skills

ASDAN employability short course with an advisor

You can attend one to one sessions with an advisor, or a group session, depending on what you need. Session times will be agreed at sign up. Courses will take between 6 to 10 hours depending on the participant.

Professional workshops include:

  • boxing
  • cooking and food hygiene
  • coding
  • magic and performance
  • music
  • photography

Special incentives

The special incentives programme offers accreditations that could lead to employment. For example, you can complete a course and test, and receive a Constructuion Skills Certificate Scheme (CSCS) card.

Employment support

We offer young people the opportunity to learn skills that will help get you ready for the workplace. Some of these skills include:

Careers guidance support

Every young person will have a careers guidance interview. This helps to identify future goals. Be Yourself aims to build confidence and resilience to give young people the skills to progress and achieve their goals.

Be Yourself was launched in November 2018 in partnership with the Jobcentre Plus.

They have helped many young people to develop personal and professional skills for the workplace.
