A better Medway

Coronavirus (COVID-19) has affected all of us, and for almost everyone life has had to change.

The pandemic has made us think more seriously about our health. The truth is, nearly two thirds of us our overweight or obese. This extra weight causes pressure to build up around vital organs, making it harder for us to fight off serious diseases like cancer, heart disease and now, coronavirus.

To help people eat well, move more and maintain a healthy weight the government has launched the Better Health campaign.

There are a number of ways we can support you to lose weight here in Medway. All of them are free to attend.

Healthy Way

A 12-week online programme that gives you the tools and know-how to live a healthier lifestyle: from eating well to managing stress and setting personal goals.

Cycling groups

Join one of our guided rides using national cycle routes across Medway. Suitable for beginners and more experienced cyclists.

Free one-to-one lessons for adults new to cycling.

Medway walks

Beautiful walks that will introduce you to Medway’s woodlands, rolling countryside and urban greenspaces. All walks are between 60 and 90 minutes.

Guided walks and training for those who can bring along their own poles. Nordic walking uses 90% of your muscles and is fantastic way to improve your fitness.
