Sessions

We have 4 session types:

  • member lane swim - dedicated lanes for adults with a pay monthly or annual membership
  • casual lane swim - suitable for those over 12 years, including free swim card users
  • family and casual lane swim - suitable for all including free swim card users
  • adult lane swim - suitable for customers aged 16 and over. 

Children must be accompanied by a responsible person, please be aware of our responsible person to child ratios.

Private sessions are not open to the public.

You can only pre-book sessions if:

  • you are a member
  • the session has 'bookable session' next to it on the timetable.

  • 7.45pm to 8.45pm - club private hire (BLSC).

Boom pool

The boom pool is open for the session running:

  • 9am to 12pm.

During the school holidays, school swimming and lessons will be family swim sessions and crash courses will be running.

  • 7.45am to 8.45am - casual lane swim (walk-in session including free swim cards)
  • 9am to 12pm - school swimming

The boom and teaching pools are open for the sessions running:

  • 9.15am to 12pm
  • 1.30pm to 2.45pm.

During the school holidays, school swimming and lessons will be family swim sessions and crash courses will be running.

Pool types

The diving pit is 12 metres by 12.5 metres with a depth of 3.8 metres.

The diving pit is primarily used with the diving boards. When the boards are not in use the pool can be used for:

  • clubs
  • classes
  • private hire
  • staff training.

The dive boards are open to children aged 12 and over.

Swimmers should be able to safely swim 25 metres before they can use the diving boards due to the depth of the water in the dive pit.

A traditional 25 metres by 12.5 metres rectangular tank pool with a depth of 1.25 metres to 2 metres. 

Entry is by ladder steps.

It has 6 standard lanes when laned off.

It is used for:

  • casual swimming
  • fitness swimming
  • aqua classes
  • clubs and galas
  • schools
  • lessons.

The teaching pool is 12 metres by 7.5 metres with ladder steps entry and a depth of 0.75 metres.

The teaching pool is used for:

  • families
  • weaker swimmers
  • pre school children
  • lessons.

The boom pool is 12.5 metres by 7.2 metres with a depth range of 1 metre to 1.25 metres.

The boom pool is primarily used for swimming lessons and aqua classes.

The pool can be entered using ladder steps or using low rise steps with a handrail.

Swimming prices

Prices stated below include centre day admission fee. If customer has an annual centre admission pass the day admission fee will be deducted from this price:

  • adult: £6.30
  • under 16s: £4.30
  • over 60s: £4.30
  • school: £2.90 per pupil (day admission fee does not apply)
  • disability swim: £4.60.

Free swimming cards

Under 16s and over 60s can swim for free with the Medway free swimming card. You must present your valid card at reception when arriving for any pre-booked swim.

Swimming pool admission policy for children

Children under 4

Children under 4 years of age must be accompanied in the water by a responsible person over the age of 16 on a 1:1 ratio.

The ratio becomes 1:2 if any child under 4 is wearing a suitable buoyancy aid that is ‘kite marked’ or carries a BS EN number.

Buoyancy aids accepted under this policy are those that fully support the child's weight in the water and remain secure in and out of the water. For example, armbands or a float jacket or suit. Buoyancy aids that are handheld, such as floats, are not considered appropriate.

Children aged 4 to 7

Children aged 4 to 7 years of age must be accompanied in the water by a responsible person over the age of 16, with no more than 2 children per responsible person.

Responsible person over the age of 16 may supervise up to 3 children aged between 4 to 7 years of age in the Teaching Pool or a designated ‘controlled area’, such as a boom pool or laned off section of shallow water.

Children aged 8 to 11

Children aged 8 to 11 years of age must be accompanied into the facility by a responsible person over the age of 16 years.

The responsible person is not required to enter the water but must remain within the facility and supervise the children.

Children aged 11 and over

No accompaniment is necessary.
