If you want to stand as a candidate, the deadline to return candidate nomination papers is Thursday 14 November at 4pm.

Here are some of the important dates in the statutory timetable for the elections:

Publication of the Notices of Election that start the formal election period Friday 8 November
Start of period for delivery of nomination papers between 10am and 4pm daily (except weekends and bank holidays)  From Monday 11 November
Last date for the delivery of nomination papers Thursday 14 November at 4pm
List of candidates standing in the General Election published Thursday 14 November at 5pm
Last date for receipt of applications to register in time to vote in the elections Tuesday 26 November
Last date for receipt of new applications for a postal vote (or to amend an existing postal vote) for the elections Tuesday 26 November at 5pm
Last date for receipt of applications to appoint a proxy to vote on your behalf Wednesday 4 December at 5pm
Election day Thursday 12 December, 7am to 10pm
