Monitoring and delivery of the Climate Change Action Plan
We make sure to continually monitor progress of the Climate Change Action Plan.
To do this, we've set up the Climate Oversight and Implementation Board (COIB).
Climate Oversight and Implementation Board (COIB)
The Climate Oversight and Implementation Board (COIB) was set up in 2024 to help oversee how well the Climate Change Action Plan is being delivered.
The board meets 4 times a year. It is led by the council’s Director of Place and includes senior staff from across the organisation.
The board’s job is to:
- make sure actions in the plan are being carried out
- check that progress is reported clearly and regularly
- ensure that risks are properly managed.
The board also helps by suggesting practical ways to support the plan’s delivery. This includes looking for opportunities to work with other councils across Kent and using their links with county-wide groups.
Climate Emergency UK Action Scorecards
The Council Climate Action Scorecards, developed by Climate Emergency UK (CEUK), give an independent assessment of local council climate action across the UK.
We take part in the scorecard process to make sure we:
- continue to understand areas for improvement
- seek opportunities to learn from other local councils' experience and knowledge.
