Medway Crematorium grounds and memorial garden are open. You must follow government guidance on social distancing when you visit.

Our Chapel of Meditation, which holds our Books of Remembrance is now open.

Service Chapel waiting rooms are closed until further notice.

Families can once again witness the strewing of ashes. To book an appointment please call Bereavement Services.

Social distancing and the crematorium

On arrival at the crematorium for a funeral, mourners should remain in their cars or wait outside.

Most chairs have been removed from the Crematorium Service Chapels. We advise that these chairs are not moved.

Family and friends can now attend funerals. Attendance is still restricted to social distancing guidelines. If chairs are not available, you must not stand in the chapel. You will need to wait outside.

If curtains are to remain open at the committal part of the funeral, we advise that people do not physically touch or kiss the coffin.

The Crematorium has the facilities to broadcast funeral services online for those who cannot make the service.

Face coverings

You must wear a face covering in the crematorium chapels. Find out more about face coverings. If you are unable to wear a face covering you could show something which explains this, such as an exemption card.

From 1 April, both chapels will return to 60-minute service slots. The East Chapel will start on the hour, with the West Chapel starting at half past the hour.
