Medway Crematorium grounds and memorial garden are open. You must follow government guidance on social distancing when you visit.

Our Chapel of Meditation, which holds our books of remembrance, will remain closed.

Service Chapel waiting rooms are closed until further notice.

Families can once again witness the strewing of ashes. To book an appointment please call Bereavement Services.

Social distancing and the crematorium

On arrival at the crematorium for a funeral, mourners should remain in their cars or wait outside.

Most chairs have been removed from the Crematorium Service Chapels. Those that remain are 2 metres apart. We advise that these chairs are not moved.

Only direct family members should attend the funeral. If no chair is available you should not stand in chapel, you should wait outside. There are outside speakers, which can be turned on.

If curtains are to remain open at the committal part of the funeral, we advise that people do not physically touch or kiss the coffin.

The Crematorium has the facilities to broadcast funeral services online for those who cannot make the service.

Face coverings

From Saturday 8 August, you must wear a face covering in the crematorium chapels. Find out more about face coverings.

From Monday 11 May we'll be offering 30 minute service slots at Medway Crematorium East Chapel. This will allow us to offer more services throughout the day.
