Additional Restrictions Grant 2 (ARG2)

The Additional Restrictions Grant 2 (ARG2) is a discretionary payment to support businesses that have been affected by the national and local restrictions put in place to manage COVID-19.

You can apply for an ARG2 if your business is in Medway and not eligible for a Local Restrictions Support Grant or a Restart Grant.

As a business or sole trader, you must meet one of the following criteria and have been affected due to government restrictions in place since 5 November 2020:

  • pay business rates and the business income has been reduced by at least 30%
  • not pay business rates and the business income has been reduced by at least 30%
  • not pay business rates and was forced to close the business by the government.

If you have applied for ARG2 do not reapply for a recovery phase top up payment. We will automatically issue payment if you are eligible.

Restart Grants

The government announced in the Budget 2021 that Restart Grants will be available in April. This scheme only applies to businesses in the rating list that were trading on 1 April 2021.

Following clarification from the government, we’ve been making the required pre-payment checks and started to make payments to businesses. As of 29 April 2021, we have paid over £6 million to more than 800 businesses.

Thank you for your patience as we continue to carry out checks and issue payments as quickly as possible.

You do not need to contact us if you have received a Local Restrictions Support Grant since the November 2020 national lockdown period. We will make payment automatically when we complete our checks.

If you have not previously received a grant, you can apply online.
