Has your business taken a few steps back?
You could receive funding if your business income has been reduced by 30% since the second lockdown.
Eligibility criteria
Your business must be actively trading from a property within the Medway Council boundary and not eligible for a Local Restrictions Support Grant.
As a business or sole trader, you must have been affected by government restrictions in place since 5 November 2020 and meet one of the following criteria:
- pay business rates and had business income reduced by at least 30%
- not pay business rates and had business income reduced by at least 30%
- not pay business rates and been forced to close by the government.
You must also:
- have ongoing fixed costs, excluding employment costs
- not be in administration or insolvent where a striking-off notice has been made
- not have received (including this grant) more than £335,000 in total business grants subsidy allowances within the previous 3 financial years.

You cannot get an Additional Restrictions Grant 2 if you're eligible for a Local Restrictions Support Grant.

Grant payments
You can apply for financial support for the following periods:
- Recovery phase from 1 April 2021
- National lockdown from 5 January 2021
- Tier 4 local lockdown period (21 December 2020 to 3 January 2021)
- Tier 3 local lockdown period (3 December 2020 to 20 December 2020)
- National lockdown from 5 November to 1 December 2020.
We will base grant payments on business size, fixed costs and evidence provided.
If your business has multiple properties trading within the Medway Council boundary, you can apply for a maximum of 2 properties through this scheme.
What you'll need to apply
Information needed
You need to provide all or some of the following information:
- business rates account number (if you pay business rates)
- company or charity registration number or another unique identifier
- VAT registration number (if registered for VAT)
- bank account details
- business details
- the number of employees in your business.
Evidence needed
You need to provide the following documents:
- full bank statements in the business name (showing account number, sort code, payee name and address) for November 2019 and 2020, December 2019 and 2020, January 2020 and 2021
- evidence of ongoing fixed costs, for example a lease or rental agreement, utility bill, other bill or invoice, buildings insurance
- evidence of business income.
If you do not have all the above evidence, we will contact you about what other evidence may be used.

After you apply
We’ll check your eligibility for the grant.
We aim to process your application within 28 working days once we have received all the required evidence. If we need to ask you for more evidence the assessment process may take longer.
We are receiving lots of applications. This may also increase the length of time it takes to process your application.
