A key aim of our Health Determinants Research Collaboration (HDRC) is to use high-quality research when making decisions about people's health and wellbeing.
Through the Public Advisory Group (PAG), we're making sure residents are helping to guide and shape the research that takes place.
About the role
We're looking for people with real-life experiences of health challenges, inequality, or barriers to services.
When you join the PAG, you'll be asked to attend online or face-to-face meetings. You'll be sharing your views and lived experiences.
The hours are flexible and vary depending on what research project you'll be working on.
There are no guaranteed or regular hours.

We're running drop-in sessions where you can find out more about the work of the PAG.
Sessions are taking place at Chatham Community Hub on:
- Tuesday 26 May 2026, 11am to 1pm
- Tuesday 16 June 2026, 11am to 1pm.
You do not need to book to attend.
Who can apply
We're looking for people with lived experience in any of the following areas:
- living in deprived areas
- ethnic minority communities
- visual, hearing, or sensory disabilities
- low literacy, or difficulty accessing written information
- mental health conditions
- long-term physical conditions such as COPD, asthma, diabetes, or high blood pressure
- homelessness
- migration
- part of Gypsy, Roma, or Traveller communities, or justice involvement
- parents, young people and older adults
- unpaid carers
- LGBTQIA+ communities.
You do not need any qualifications or experience of research to take part.
You must be 18 or older to apply.

What you'll receive
You'll receive:
- £27.50 per hour (National Institute for Health and Care Research standard public involvement rate). Payments are not processed through payroll
- support with internet costs
- travel expenses and support with accessibility needs
- easy-read or accessible materials where required.
If you receive benefits, we can provide information to help you understand how involvement payments may affect you.
You can also take part on a voluntary basis.
