We are encouraging residents to enjoy the great outdoors and go Wild About Capstone at a free family event.

Wild About Capstone, at Capstone Farm Country Park on Sunday, 26 September, invites residents to celebrate being outdoors, enjoy the natural environment and have fun making rural crafts as well as visit stalls selling locally made products and food and drink.

There will be fun for all the family including walking trails, bug house and picture frame making and visitors can also meet the Capstone Alpacas. The family-friendly event supports the council’s aspiration to become a Child-Friendly City putting children and young people at the heart of everything it does.

Residents will also be able to find out more about recycling, the environment, wildlife and the council’s newly adopted Climate Change Action Plan at Wild About Capstone from the Kent Wildlife Trust, Birdwise and Medway Council’s Climate Change and Environmental Engagement teams.

Activities for people of all ages

Cllr Howard Doe, Medway Council’s Portfolio Holder for Community Services, said: “We are looking forward to welcoming residents, including families looking for a fun day out, to our nature-based event this summer season. There are plenty of activities for people of all ages to enjoy, including arts and crafts, kite displays and ranger led trails. Although our summer events schedule is coming to an end, we are looking forward to welcoming thousands of residents and visitors to Medway this winter at the Rochester Christmas Market in November and to celebrate the Dickensian Christmas Festival in December. Our spectacular events programme supports Medway’s bid to become UK City of Culture 2025 which will create a legacy of opportunities for residents of all ages.”

Wild About Capstone will take place between 11am and 3pm on Sunday, 26 September at the southern end of Capstone Farm Country Park, next to the Orchard car park. Residents are also encouraged to use the main Capstone Farm car park, there will be a nature spotting trial leading up to the entrance for people to enjoy.
