We are encouraging young people across Medway to walk to school this month, as part of a national campaign.

The council is supporting national ‘Walk to School Month’ this October in partnership with the KM Charity Team and is encouraging local schools and academies to take part.

The campaign encourages children to travel to and from school more actively each day in a fun and innovative way and aims to reduce the number of car journeys on the school run.

Encourage children to be more active

Medway Council’s Portfolio Holder for Frontline Services, Cllr Phil Filmer, said “This exciting initiative is a great way to encourage children to become more active and reduce the number of cars on our roads during the school run. Walk to School month also supports our newly adopted Climate Change Action Plan and our ambition to become a Child-Friendly City. I would encourage children and young people to take part.”
