An exhibition which has been 30 years in the making will go on display at Rochester Art Gallery next week.
Neil Bottle’s All that Remains - 30 years in the making exhibition will open at the gallery on Saturday, 9 October.
Neil’s fascinating textile hangings in All That Remains are inspired by family photographs, a sense of time passing and how we remember things - in both real and false memories. A house move unearthed photos of things he remembered, and things he thought he remembered.
The textile prints will be contextualised with personal, sentimental objects which were the starting point for many of the stories Neil is telling, including a tiny doll he made aged three, which his mother kept in a box for many years.
Inspire Medway's young creatives
Cllr Howard Doe, Medway Council’s Portfolio Holder for Community Services, said: “I am pleased that Rochester Art Gallery will be hosting Neil’s exhibition, which has been 30 years in the making. Neil’s work has been sold across the globe and I hope this exhibition helps inspire some of our young creatives and I would encourage residents to view his impressive work. The exhibition is family-friendly which supports our aspiration to become a Child-Friendly City. Hosting events at cultural hubs in Medway supports the area's aspiration to become UK City of Culture 2025. Becoming City of Culture would create a legacy of opportunities for local people and bring significant economic benefits to Medway.”
The exhibition will be available to view at RAG from Saturday, 9 October 2021 to Saturday, 15 January 2022 and work will be available to purchase. Opening hours are Tuesday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm with free admission.
