Families across Medway will begin to find out which secondary school their child has been offered for September 2023 from today, national offer day (Wednesday, 1 March).

The school admissions process for Medway is a huge task and involves our School Admissions Team processing secondary school applications for a total of 4,485 children, which includes 828 children from outside Medway.

Of the 3,657 Medway children offered places, more than 96 per cent have been awarded a place at one of their preferred secondary schools.

We offer parents and carers the opportunity to submit their child’s applications online, using a quick and simple form. This year, 99 per cent of families used our online application process to submit their preferences.

Fantastic range of secondary schools

Cllr Martin Potter, Medway Council’s Portfolio Holder for Education and Schools, said: “I am delighted that more than 96 per cent of children have been allocated a place at one of their preferred schools. Medway’s schools are a key pillar of our Child-Friendly initiative and I am pleased that Medway has a fantastic range of secondary schools to meet every child’s individual needs and interests. The school’s admissions process is a huge task, and I would also like to thank council officers for all their hard work.”

Very exciting time for young people

Cllr Josie Iles, Medway Council’s Lead Member for Children’s Services, said: “Finding out which secondary school children will be going to is a very exciting time for young people and their families, so I am delighted that thousands of children have been allocated a place at one of their preferred schools. I would like to wish everyone finding out which secondary school they’ll be attending in September all the very best as they begin the next stage of their education.”
