More than 97.5 per cent of children in Medway who are due to start primary school in September 2018 have been offered a place at one of their preferred primary or infant schools.

Families across Medway will start finding out which primary/infant school their child has been offered for September 2018 today, Monday 16 April.

Every Medway child who applied on time has secured a school place and 3,347 Medway children have been offered places.

The school admissions process for Medway is a huge task and involves the council processing primary school applications for 3,476 children in total, including 127 children from outside the Medway area.

This year, more than 98.5 per cent of families used the council's online application process to submit their preferences.

Medway Council’s Portfolio Holder for Education Attainment and Improvement, Cllr Martin Potter, said:

“Today thousands of families will find out which primary school their children have been offered a place at and I’m pleased that many of them have been allocated a place at one of their preferred schools. I wish the children all the best as they start their education.”

Cllr Andrew Mackness, Portfolio Holder for Children’s Services, said:
