Some will continue with their education and others will be joining the world of work or starting an apprenticeship – but whichever path you take I want to wish you the very best of luck.
“It is obviously a very exciting time for many, but there will always be nerves as well. I want to reassure you that if you don’t get the results you want there is lots of support and help out there. It is always best to speak to your school in the first instance, however, our Information Advice and Guidance team can also offer advice on your options.
“To all of the fantastic teachers, school staff, parents and carers who have supported, nurtured and guided Medway’s young people through this important time – thank you for all of your hard work to help them achieve their goals.”
Advice and support
If you are not sure what to do after your exams, or are disappointed with your results, we recommend you speak to your school in the first instance. However, there is lots of other guidance and advice out there to help support you.

If you're unsure university or higher education is right for you, Medway Adult Education has a wide range of vocational courses on offer, including digital skills, creative courses and career specific qualifications.
Career guidance
Our Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) service offers advice and support to 16 to 18-year-olds in Medway. This support includes:
- Career advice.
- Job search and application help.
- CV and interview skills.
- Finding and applying for an apprenticeship.
- Applying for college or sixth form.
- Finding a training course.
IAG will be running drop-in advice sessions at the Strood Children and Family Hub on both A-Level (Thursday, 14 August) and GCSE (Thursday, 21 August) results day. Both sessions will be held in the 16+ area of the hub, and will run from 10am to 3pm.
The National Careers Service also provides guidance if you're not sure what to do next. You can call them on 0800 100 900 to speak to a careers adviser, or find out more on the National Careers Service website.
Apprenticeships

We also offer apprenticeships at Medway Council through the Medway Council Apprenticeship Academy. An apprenticeship with Medway Council gives you the opportunity to combine practical training in a job, with nationally recognised qualifications, starting at Intermediate Level 2 and progressing to Higher Levels 6 and 7 (degree and master's level).
Apprenticeships are also available through Medway Adult Education.
