Earlier today (Wednesday, 10 September) the Universities of Kent and Greenwich announced their intention to formally collaborate.
Commenting on the announcement, Cllr Vince Maple, Leader of Medway Council, said: "I warmly welcome the news of this groundbreaking and innovative collaboration between the University of Greenwich and the University of Kent, both leading providers of higher education in Medway.
“They already blazed a trail more than 20 years ago when they came together with Canterbury Christ Church University in a unique partnership to share a single campus at Chatham Maritime.
“This collaboration will secure ongoing access in Medway to an excellent range of university degrees and, combined with Medway’s vibrant cultural and heritage offering, will provide students a fabulous setting in which to study.
“Critically the collaboration will also ensure the secured financial stability of both organisations at a time when the sector faces increasing challenges and will provide the opportunity to drive further innovation into the sector and raise the standards and quality of learning available.
“We look forward to working in close partnership with the London and South East University Group in the years to come.”
