We are strengthening ties with the community to improve adult social care services through new Community Involvement Groups.

Set to launch in January 2026, two monthly sessions will give residents a platform to share their own experiences, provide feedback and help shape future improvements to adult social care in Medway.

The sessions will be held at Chatham Salvation Army, Church Street every third Friday of the month (starting on Friday, 23 January) and Medway Park Sports Centre, Mill Road, on the last Friday of the month (starting from Friday, 30 January).

All sessions will run from 10am to 11.30am, and the groups will be open to anyone aged 18 and over who:

  • Relies on care services and support from us.
  • Is a paid or unpaid carer.
  • Has a family member receiving support from our Adult Social Care team.

The new initiative aims to build trust and transparency, by ensuring that voices are heard and demonstrating that feedback can lead to real change.

By working together, we can turn meaningful feedback into real-world improvements

Cllr Teresa Murray, Deputy Leader of Medway Council and Portfolio Holder for Public Health, said: “It is fantastic that a group like this is being launched for the community in Medway, building on our ongoing commitment to support all residents and improve the services they rely on. These Community Involvement Groups will provide a dedicated space for people to share their experiences with us, ensuring that every voice is heard and valued. By working together, we can turn meaningful feedback into real-world improvements that make a positive difference to people’s lives. This initiative is about collaboration because shaping the future of adult social care in Medway is something we can only achieve by listening and acting together.”

There are plans to expand the newly founded groups to Hoo, Strood, Rochester, and Rainham later in 2026.
