Nominations for the Medway Sports Awards are now open - giving you the chance to celebrate Medway’s sporting heroes.
Nominations close at 5pm on Sunday, 25 October.
The awards celebrate sporting excellence across all levels, from grassroots through to international competitors.
Previous winners include Olympic Gold medallist, Nathan Hayes, England Wheelchair Rugby Coach, Tom Coyd MBE, England Women’s Rugby Captain, Rachael Burford and Commonwealth Heavyweight Champion, Moses Itauma.
Both teams and individuals from Medway can be nominated. In order to be eligible, the achievements that each person or team are being nominated for must have happened between 1 November 2024 and 25 October 2026.
The categories are:
- Sportsperson of the Year.
- Junior Sportsperson of the Year.
- Club of the Year.
- Junior Club of the Year.
- Team of the Year.
- Junior Team of the Year.
- Coach of the Year.
- Primary School of the Year.
- Secondary School of the Year.
- Unsung Hero of the Year.
- Official of the Year.
The winners will be picked by an expert panel of judges, including:
- Charlotte Evans MBE, gold-medal winning Paralympian, previous Sportsperson of the Year winner, and Hall of Fame inductee.
- Gary Smith, Olympian, former British Gymnastics National Coach for trampoline and Hall of Fame inductee.
- Matt Panting, Head of Sport at The KM Group.
- Stuart Butler, Sport Welfare Officer at Active Kent and Medway.
- Professor John Dickinson, Head of the Exercise Respiratory Clinic at the University of Kent.
- Rhys Wintle, Specialist Assessment and PE Lead at Aspire School.
There will be gold, silver and bronze awards for each category, which will be presented at a ceremony on Friday, 11 December at The Rochester Corn Exchange.
