Applications are now open for three independent chairs to lead Medway’s Pride in Place Neighbourhood Boards.
Earlier this year, the government announced that three areas in Medway would benefit from £60million of investment over the next ten years, with Twydall (Gillingham), Rede Common (Strood) and Luton (Chatham) each receiving £20million.
As part of the Pride in Place funding, three Neighbourhood Boards are being created. These boards will be made up of local residents, community groups, businesses, MPs and the council.
Each board will be led by a chair and will collectively decide how this money should be spent to make the biggest difference for local people.
Applications for the position of chair on all three Neighbourhood Boards are open now. To apply, you will need to live in the local area of the board you are applying for, and be 18-years-old or over.
Following the appointment of chairs, other Neighbourhood Board members will be recruited. These boards largely be resident-led, with the majority of members living or working in the local area. They will be joined by the MP for the constituency and one ward councillor.
Once established, the Neighbourhood Boards will lead on local engagement and consultation work in each of the three areas, identify priority projects and produce a Pride in Place Plan to set out how the funding will be spent. They will also oversee delivery of the agreed projects.
