We would like to thank a dedicated employee from Walderslade who has helped thousands of children get to school safely.
Karen Jones, who has worked as a School Crossing Patrol at Maundene School in Walderslade for more than 30 years, is retiring over the school summer holidays after three decades of road safety work.
As well as her tireless work outside the school, Karen is also a midday meals supervisor at Maundene School.
Speaking at a special assembly at the school, Karen said: "It is just really seeing all the children every day, and I have a lovely relationship with a lot of the children. Also, when the children that used to come here then come back with their children - that is lovely."
Everyone at Medway Council wishes Karen a very happy and well-earned retirement.
School crossing patrols play a key role in helping to keep people safe on their way to and from school.
Earlier this month, the Medway School Crossing Patrol AGM was held at MidKent College, Gillingham. The meeting is held each year to allow the team to come together, share information and celebrate their achievements.
